This is a little piece I have written to make a friends day slightly more bearable.

REQUIEM TO AN EGO.

There was a man inside my head.
A tragic thought, no doubt it is said.
Squeak not, nor shed a tear
for this mans confined sphere
A though, a glimmer, a club, a stick
The man, has been given a flick
The ego is ergo is virgo is nix
Oh, damit, good spirits, cease these word trix.

I woke this morning with a migrane and a rattle
Lo and behold, I think, I've lost my mantle.
No longer cogito, a kind o'ergo and nary a sum.
Yeay! 'tis a reason to start a day glum.
Yet, though ego no more pedals my bike
Still the gears grind, rotate, ratchet and crank.
The soul still flutters and wafts and transcends
Sufficiently, no doubt, to some deity to make amends.
Such as it is, and such as it was,
The ego remembered fondly, is but a cognitive faux pas.

I am instead and but and no more
a bowl of neutrinos, gluons and neurons at core.
Though this notion gives me a pause, a shiver and squint
I care not at all, for in your eye I still may rise a glint.

With the elections coming up in the US and Australia, I felt a need to wrestle some photons into a shape vaguely reasembling a work of art (using the term very losely).
Technically this is very poor but its the idea that counts;

We get to choose between the lesser of the two evils. Not much of a choice in either case. It almost makes one yearn for the good old days of totalitarian leaders. Leaders like Uncle Stalin and Ghengis-Khan. Not that there is much difference between some of their policies.

Still, at least we can whine about it for a while in (relative) safety... as long as not too many of the sheeple listen to us... and as long as we are safely stowed away in the 'Free speech zones'.
